The second and last stage of Challenge Calabria (Lamezia Terme-Reggio Calabria, 191,6 km) had again a sprint end and again Viviani won. The Italian cyclist preceded Colli and Richeze and won also the overall standing of the two days race.
On the contrary, something changed in Lampre-ISD: yesterday Cimolai had been the captain of the team, while today Viganò (photo Bettini) was the main man for the sprint.
Well supported by Cimolai, Viganò launched his action in a effective way, but his speed decrease in the last 100 mt and so he crossed the finish line in 8th position.
For what concerns the other blue-fuchsia cyclist, Bertagnolli joined an attack in the early kilometers of the stage, but the action was soon neutralized.
“We decided in the morning that it was Viganò’s turn to battle in the sprint - sport director Bontempi said - Cimolai was great in supporting his team mate, it’s a pity that Viganò could not complete his action in a better way. Good notes also about Cunego, I saw him pedaling in a competitive way”.
