It started today the world championships in Florence for Team Lampre Merida.
With the team time trial from Montecatini Terme to Florence for a total of 57.2 kilometers , the adventure begins for Giuseppe Saronni’s Team at the World Championships road 2013.
The beginning was not exciting but with clear signs of improvement for Lampre Merida, respect to the poor performance of last year in the same rainbow test.
The race saw the Team Omega Pharma Quick Step prevail for only 0.81 hundredths of a second on the Orica GreenEdge and 55 “on the third placed Sky .
Team Lampre Merida came 17th at the finish line with a delay of 3’56 ” behind the winner , this the first analysis of the Ds Piovani : ” We played a test in our expectations , we could shave a few seconds even if things had turned in the right direction since the morning . Richeze has had to deal with health problems in the morning that left him weak for the time trial, also sorry for the inconvenience incurred to Bono at - 4 km from the finish, where for a chain jump we lost him in a difficult point of the path . Very good Malori who has shouldered most of the work on the shoulders , showing good overall condition. We knew that teams with specialists today would have had the easy life, the way it presented several points with wind in face where that type of athlete really makes a difference , but I’m glad , however, that the men whose possession the team for this race , have given their best to make the team do well . Compared to last year we have improved considerably, not only to the world championship but also during the year with beautiful proofs of team time trial . Thanks to the technical support of Merida for the bikes , Champion System with clothing for racing , Kabuto for helmets and also the tests made at the Monza circuit in the last few days, we can say that we are on track to improve further in view of upcoming appointments . ”
