What a great time trial for Ulissi

A time trial ended the 2014 edition of Tirreno-Adriatico.
9100 meters on Adriatico shore, a very fast course with only 6 bends decided the final overall classification.
Diego Ulissi (photo Bettini) main target was to defend his place in the top 15: he hit the target and he even did better, since he finished Tirreno-Adriatico very close to the top ten.

Thanks to excellent time trial, in which he recorded the 16th timing, 34″ higher than the winner one (Malori), Diego got close to the 10th place of Nieve, that he missed for 13″.
Ulissi, the best rider for LAMPRE-MERIDA, obtained the 11th place in the final overall classification (+ 3’32″ to Contador) and the second position in the young riders standing, just behind Quintana

“Diego performed a very interesting time trial, that was almost giving him the access to the top ten of the overall classification - sport director Maini explained - He was very fast in the second sector of the course, where the Merida Warp TT bike valued the power that Diego still had in his legs.
The final result is precious and we are even more happy for the second place in the young riders classification.
Tirreno-Adriatico was not simple for us, because we had to face crashes and injuries, but we managed to do the best as we could day by day”.
