Cattaneo is going to sign prolongation for 2015 and 2016

Team LAMPRE-MERIDA have come to an agreement to renew the contract of an Italian young talented rider that will be for sure protagonist in the next future on the top level of cycling.

Mattia Cattaneo (photo Bettini), born in 1990, will sign the contract renewal with the blue-fuchsia-green team for 2015 and 2016 seasons.

The Italian rider became pro in 2013 joining Team LAMPRE-MERIDA, after having obtained as Under 23 many important victory as 2011 edition of Giro d’Italia Under 23.

In pro world, Cattaneo has already taken part in two Giro d’Italia and in Classics such as Tour de Flandres and Liege-Bastogne-Liege, in addition to other World Tour races in which he demonstrated his qualities and he added experience to his background that will help him to have interesting aims in the next seasons.

“I’m very happy I’ll be able to go on in my cycling career wearing LAMPRE-MERIDA’s jersey: in this team I can find all the necessary skills to improve my quality as cyclist. In addition, I think it’s a perfect group to grow up as athlete”, Cattaneo explained.

This is the comment by team manager Brent Copeland: “Mattia is one of the most competitive young Italian cyclists, so we’re very satisfied he’ll race for our team in the next year too.

During the current season, Cattaneo’s improvements have been remarkable, I’m sure he’ll soon perform in LAMPRE-MERIDA further steps towards a top cycling level.

Considering his improvement in time trial, in the next season he’ll have the chance to fight in short stages races, while he’ll be later able to aim to be protagonist in great tours.
