Swiss rider Schar could survive to the chase of the bunch and with 2″ of advantage could celebrate the victory of the 2nd stage of Tour of Utah.
Cyclists faced a demanding American day, considering that the 2nd stage of Tour of Utah was the longest of the whole race (201,3 km) and that it was characterized by 3686 meters of elevation gain.
Start from Penguitch (quota 2011 meters) and arrival in Torrey (quota 2085 meters), after having covered 4 Kom: the most demanding climb was the Boulder Mountain (quota 2928 meters), on which Schar could pass with more than 3′ of advantage on the group.
In the chase group there were 6 LAMPRE-MERIDA’s cyclists: Conti, Horner, Anacona, Dodi, Koshevoy and Wackermannm who obtained the 8th place and the 2nd position in the young riders classification.
In the overall classification, Wackermann (photo Bettini) is 7th, at 12″ to the new leader Kocjan. Horner is 13th at 17″.
